- If we have love and affection for someone then we should keep it hidden as much as we can; it is of the best quality; if we speak it outwardly like I love you, I will die without you, then this love is of low quality; It will decrease. Although gopis externally say that Krsna is their life and soul but actually it is hidden. Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura has explained this for us to understand.
- Srila Gurudeva explained the commentary of Srila Jiva Gosvami on verse SB 10.31.19 'yat te sujata caranamburuham stanesu'.
- Gopis ask Krsna to get rid of all kinds of miseries to give pleasure to them. They say that Krsna is the best doctor and knows about the hrid-roga (heart disease) and its medicine. But Krsna says that he doesn't understand this and wants to listen to Gopis about hrid-roga and its medicine. Both want to listen to each other. But gopis do not tell rather they convey indirectly in some other way.
- In verse SB 10.31.11 'calasi yad vrajac caārayan pasun'. Gopis are concerned for Krsna's roaming in the woods because there are sharp-edged thorns which may hurt Krsna's lotus feet. Also, Krsna walks on the harsh ground of the Yamuna's bank, and therefore they fear that sharp pebbles and thorns may cut His lotus feet.
- Actually there is no such danger for Krsna in the forest because Vrnda-devi very carefully makes all arrangements and also because of the natural gentility of the land of Vrndavana, there are no sharp stones.
- Still, the gopis' hearts are in fear, being subject to this principle of logic that the heart of a friend is always filled with fear of danger for the one he loves.
- Gopis say 'Bhavad ayusam' - "You are our very life." They tell this to Krsna in the very first text of this Gopi-gita, when they uttered the words 'tvayi dhrtasavah: "Our vital forces dwell in You." And again they confirm this in Verse 11 beginning with 'calasi yad vrajac. Thus, they repeat this conviction throughout their lament that Krsna is our life and soul .
- We must repeat the mahamantra again and again because that is our life's goal.
- Gopis tell Krsna that as our life-airs reside in You, we feel all of Your pain. Thus, all those sharp stones and thorns threaten our lives as well and make us ill at heart.
- The only remedy and cure for our disease is to place Your lotus feet on our hearts with tender loving care.
- Srila Jiva Gosvami says that there are various confidential emotions that still remain hidden in the gopis' hearts and they can be discovered by rasika devotees through their realizations.
- Srila Gurudev explained the verse 10.44.15 'yā dohane 'vahanane mathanopalepa' and 'urukrama citta-yānāḥ' ; Krsna always rides on the chariot of the gopis' minds and vice versa.
